Whose kid is this, anyway???

I know it is probably too early for us to reminisce, but I was doing a little Internet searching and came across these pics taken just a few hours after Jaycee was born. It seems like decades ago and as I sit here now, I wonder. . . Whose kid is that, anyway? I have a kid that looks and acts nothing like that baby from February of this year. I am guessing that it only gets a million times worse as they get older

Merry Christmas!

Jaycee is enjoying her very first Christmas! So far she has received some very neat and exciting gifts. There are things she can ride on, things she can read, and things that sing songs. All of the above are in her list of favorites right now, so these have all been welcomed additions to the many toys that she already enjoys on a daily basis.

Aside from the Christmas gifts, Jaycee has been exploring with putting things on herself. These things include: her Mommy's bra, he Daddy's shorts, and even a pair of swim goggles. She is fascinated with putting things on and taking things off. She is also enjoying helping with the laundry. She can empty a laundry basket in no time; clean or dirty, Jaycee can get that basket empty!

We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas! We know we will :)

She is WALKING!

It's official! Jaycee has taken her first big girl steps! Tonight she attempted up to five steps on her own. She is a little wobbly, of course, but she is certainly on her way to being even more independent. Great, we better get our running shoes on! She is a fast girl

It's Finally Cold!

We visited the Christmas tree farm today. Jaycee wore the cutest outfit; overalls, a suede jacket, a rugby hat, little shoes! What's not to love! It was the very first time that she didn't mind wearing her hat. Ever since we purchased it for the cold weather season, she has refused to wear it. It was finally cold enough today with the weather in the low 50's. The weather forecast even says we might have snow this next week. It would be nice for Jaycee to see snow at her own house for the first time instead of a drive up to the mountains. Either way, I am sure that will will make it to the mountains this winter for a snow day. Jaycee is such a warm body, we were worried that she might be sweating when we took off her cap, but she was okay. Her cheeks were even a little cold.

It's been fun shopping for cold weather clothes. As much as we love the summer wear dresses and skirts, the overalls, sweat pants, and jeans are pretty cool. . . or should we say warm? Jaycee has an entire collection of cold weather jackets, from suede, to snow, to yoga zip-ups. We can't wait for Christmas day so that she can enjoy her special outfits :)

Jaycee's Christmas Wish List

Jaycee is changing so rapidly! A few things on the wish list this holiday season are as follows:

*Target gift cards (she eats like crazy now!)

*Costco gift cards (she still needs diapers!)

*Children's Place gift cards (she needs big girl clothing)

*Any toys that are for 12 months and older (especially musical things, or things that she can make music with)

Our Visits to Scripps

We went to Scripps Aquarium today so that Jaycee's Daddy could do some class work for Marine Bio. While there, we had quite a nice photo session. Here are a few of the pics from today!

Jaycee the big girl

Our baby girl is growing so fast! She now has an additional two teeth popping out (making 5 teeth total), and is so very active. She likes to sleep about one hour per day for her nap time and is constantly on the go when she's not sleeping. She likes having the independence of her sippy cup with water and cannot wait to eat all the food that her parents eat. She is always stealing something off someone's plate!

Here are a couple of pictures taken after a nap last week. She was quite happy to wake up and start her engine again!

9 Month Check-Up

Jaycee had her nine month check-up today. Here are the results:

Weight: 19.5 pounds

Length: 27 1/4 inches

Shots: Her last Hep B and a small prick on the big toe to test for anemia

And the doctor's verdict: Healthy baby that does not like strangers!

Our next appointment will be the big one, the big ONE year! Oh, man. . .

Jaycee has another tooth!

Jaycee has another tooth. She recently had an upper tooth break the skin this past week. She is now chomping and eating like crazy. She enjoys Cheerios, Gerber Puffs, and anything else that she is allowed to eat on her own! Jaycee is also able to drink from her sippy cup all by herself. She loves water and would rather drink out of a water bottle, but a sippy cup is a close second.

Instead of crawling to her destinations, Jaycee is now cruising while holding on to furniture, toys, and parents. She is determined to walk and she wants to walk alone very soon. She is mobile and fast, fast, fast! She thinks the game of tag is funny, likes to scream for fun, and has started making faces at us.

We just can't believe how old she is! Nine months tomorrow :)

Happy Halloween (the next day)

Jaycee had her first Halloween as a monkey last night. Instead of going trick-or-treating, we decided to help pass out candy at her Oma's house. Jaycee thought the kids were interesting. . . She also thought she was going to Alaska with the thickness of her costume. Poor kid, she is a sweaty body anyway without the extra padding of her outfit. She also thought chewing on the wrapper of a Snickers was great. She managed to stay awake until about 7:45 before we headed home for the night. This time next year, we'll be fighting her for the candy!

Jaycee went to her first pumpkin patch today! She even got her own little pumpkin. Pictures will follow soon of her carved pumpkin, and of course, her Happy Halloween costume!

Jaycee's trip to Sea World, again

Jaycee had another successful day at Sea World. Over the weekend we went for another visit and Jaycee met the sea lions. She thought the loud, stinky sea lions were pretty interesting. Apparently Jaycee thought they were strange dogs, similar to the loud, stinky dogs at home. Jaycee was so close to the sea lions, she could have touched them. Luckily her Mommy was slightly faster then Jaycee slipping her hand over the railing.
Jaycee also visited the Arctic Zone, where she went underground and saw a Polar Bear, Beluga whales, and dark aquariums. She did not get scared, nor did she cry all day long. Another success to add to the book of Jaycee adventures!!

And if a successful day at Sea World wasn't enough, Jaycee also visited Mommy's classroom this week! We weren't sure if 30 sets of eyes staring at her was going to scare her, but we couldn't have guessed her reaction. Instead of crying or acting uncomfortable, Jaycee was an absolute ham! She smiled, laughed, clapped, and stole the show. The kids thought she was great and Jaycee thought being back in Mommy's classroom was great. Too bad she can't go to school everyday!

Jaycee also knows (and asks) to hold her bottle during feedings. She can stand alone while balancing on her knees, and is continuing to push the limits. All this kid wants to do is run. . . and run fast!
