Jaycee the Reader/the Signer

Jaycee's newest favorite past-time is reading. She loves to read all her books, by herself or with others. She points out everything she knows, and screams "Mama" or "Dada" when we aren't looking with her. She points to the words and demands stories be told too. This is how I found Jaycee this morning after Sunday cleaning. . . She was on the dog pillow, on the Sponge Bob pillow, on top of her blanky, with her Einstein book. Too cute!

This is Jaycee from yesterday. Reading sure is difficult, especially after you've been awake for 10+ hours without a nap. She just passed out, book in hand. Poor kid, it's hard to be a toddler. (You can see the small pile of books she has next to her too.)

Other new Jaycee things:

She has been watching/signing (American Sign Language) to her Baby Einstein movies since she was small, but lately she has blossomed. We have not pushed the signing, but Jaycee has been going crazy with learning and performing new signs all on her own. Here are some of the signs she knows very well (and learned completely on her own!):
tree
trail
mirror
school
clock
bed
telephone
couch
ball
computer
swing
piano

Here are some of the body parts she knows super well too:
eyes
ears
nose
mouth
teeth
tongue
hair
head
fingers
toes
knee
belly button
elbow
shoulder
arm pit
boobies
private parts
feet

We know we are the parents and she does everything great, but that is pretty cool for just 19 months old!

Jaycee the Mechanic/The Terrible Twos Tantrum

A silly didi girl. She thought she was so funny. And check out that messy hair!

Jaycee the mechanic. She decided that she needed her Dada's tool so that she could fix her quad engine. She did a very good job, too. It still makes noise.

A pre-terrible twos tantrum. This is what Jaycee looks like when she can't have her way. And the noise level is just incredible. We should have recorded the sound to go along with it. The camera didn't make her any worse, she actually started to take the camera so that she could once again have something she wanted on her own terms.

BB#2 update

We had another ultrasound today for new baby. Everything went really well. She is already head down, face down, ready for action when the time comes. The ultrasound technician said that she is a small baby and should be small like her older sister once she is born. She is currently 2 pounds 3 ounces. Here is the best shot from today. A very clear profile picture. We think it looks like Jaycee's little twin. Once she gets here we'll see if they look the same: Cookie-cutter kids? Probably. . .

Jaycee's Visit to Preschool

Jaycee went for a visit to her future preschool today. She played with the toys, the sandbox, pet the goats and the ponies, she thought the whole event was pretty fun. She didn't have any interactions with the other kiddos though, it was nap time for them. We plan on taking Jaycee back once the new year comes and deciding when the time is right for a some part-time preschool fun. Jaycee looks so old in these pics! Where did our baby go??

Jaycee's Classroom Adventure

Jaycee had a hard day of shopping over the summer at Costco. These are a few of the pictures that we took. She actually fell asleep while sitting up the first time, then we decided to create a little bed for her to sleep in. It was so darn cute!

Jaycee loves going to "school". AKA- Mama's classroom. She takes off like a little monkey and touches literally everything. She plays with magnets, brings us thumb tacks, and even colors on the occasional bulletin board.

Yesterday Jaycee was at school in the afternoon and was coloring very nicely on the chart paper. She was carefully taking the lids off every marker, then she would color, then she would put the lid back on and start over again with a different color. It was so adorable! Then, after a few moments (or two) she came over and had dark blue marker. . . EVERYWHERE! She had decided that the marker might smell good, might taste good, and might be the perfect sized Q-tip. Needless to say, she was covered in dark blue all over her face. Mama laughed. Dada freaked out. Jaycee was confused (we didn't have a mirror to show her what all the drama and comedy was all about).

Luckily, most of the marker came off in the classroom with some soap and water (thank goodness for the new school Mama works at!). She was left with a few battle scars until the end of the evening when she took a bath. Even though the markers were made by Sharpie, they came off pretty well.

Can't wait to see what kind of shenanigans she gets herself into next time. . .
