What a wonderful week

How great is Jaycee? We have had three nights in a row with more than six hours of sleep! After initially being scared and worried (as any first time parents would be), we are now just elated at our amount of zzzz's that we are getting. Last night: 6 hours and 45 minutes; the night before that: 7 hours; and the night before that: 6 hours and 30 minutes!!!! We are not sure what we have done to deserve this, but we will take it.
Other amazing milestones from this last week: Jaycee has started smiling on a regular basis. Her favorite time is in the morning hours after she first eats and is wide awake. She will smile when you talk to her, look at her, and when you make funny faces at her. She thinks life is pretty funny. Jaycee isn't a loud baby as far as her cooing and gurgling, but she is definitely an observer. Jaycee usually spends her awake time looking around and taking in her surroundings. She is also holding her head up for long periods of time while she looks around. We can't believe she is going to be seven weeks tomorrow. Where has the time gone??

Happy Belated Easter!

Happy belated Easter! We can't believe how quickly Easter got here this year. Jaycee's day was relatively uneventful as she mostly slept. With the warm weather, she was ready for a nap nearly all day. She is growing like a weed so her sleep is especially important right now. Luckily for us, she is sleeping for four hour blocks at night, even when she sleeps all day.
We threw in a few other pictures from the week too. . . You can never have too many of a beautiful thing :)

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Jaycee had a wonderful holiday. She spent most of her time drinking green beer, eating corned beef hash, and cabbage. . . Just kidding! About the only thing green that she had today was her outfit (too cute) and her explosive diaper. It's so nice that at five weeks old she can fit into newborn outfits. It's about time. Hopefully she doesn't grow too quickly, now, so that we can enjoy dressing her in all her fabulous outfits.

The green outfit pics are from today and the other pics are of Jaycee's bath (she loves to take a bath) and her hanging out in her room after a diaper change a couple of days ago. She is acutually very happy to be in her room during her diaper changes. She has flower pictures hanging on her wall (a BIG thank you to the Hanchette's for that gift) and she can stare at them forever. Who knew that pictures would be better than a mobile?

Jaycee's Omas & Opas

So Jaycee is an extremely lucky little girl because of the sheer number of grandparents that she has. We thought we would dedicate this blog to the grandparents that have had the opportunity to meet Jaycee. Remember when you see these pics, there are even more grandparents that Jaycee hasn't met yet! And Jaycee doesn't just have grandparents, she has Omas and Opas. Oma means grandma in German and Opa means grandpa in German. This comes from Jaycee's mom's side of the family. We are very happy that Jaycee can continue the Oma/Opa tradition because our family's heritage means a lot to us. Jaycee is also lucky enough to have an Abuelita too (or Lita for short). On her daddy's side there is the Spanish language influence because of his Honduran family heritage. Hopefully our little one will be able to learn some German and Spanish words so that she can claim to be trilingual. How great would that be?

And not only does Jaycee have a ton of grandparents, she also makes the fifth living generation on her mom's side of the family and the fourth generation on her dad's side. We are working on getting the fifth generation picture put together because all five generations are girls. Imagine that!

Here's the list of Omas:

Karen, Barbara, Inge, Klara, Sue, Mary, Georgina, Geneva

Here's the list of Opas:

Dave, Gerry, Mike, Jim, Colin

Not too bad. Christmas time should be a good time for Jaycee :)

Meet Jaycee!

Hi everyone! We thought we would create a little blog to post all our gorgeous baby pictures. It's so difficult to send out mass emails with attached photos, so we thought we'd give this a try instead. Now we can upload new pics as frequently as we'd like and you can visit as often as you'd like. We hope you enjoy our little one as much as we do, we can't believe that she is already one month old!
Jaycee is now locking eyes with her mommy and daddy and loving life. Her favorite things to do are sleep, eat, and fill up her diapers. She knows her daytime from her nighttime and can sleep for about three hours straight at night. During the day, she naps frequently and is able to sleep through just about everything. . . dogs barking, the vacuum, the rooster crowing. Thank goodness for that! We are very lucky to have such a happy and healthy baby!
