Another fun day

Jaycee had a fun day today at the park. The weather was beyond gorgeous. It was sunny, with a clear blue sky. The perfect setting for a few new pictures. She had quite a time walking on the uneven grass. It was the first time that she has been to the park since walking well. She thought it was pretty cool. . . Here are some of the pictures. Enjoy!

Jaycee has also been sharing lately. She is very kind, but always expects her goods returned in a timely manner. With her new sharing has also come her very first command. She now says "da" when she is giving you an item. We have officially translated "da" into "here". It's so nice to have Jaycee sharing with her words now and not just her actions. From here on out, we will only be getting newer, clearer words. That should definitely relieve some frustration! We can't wait to have a full conversation with this little one. We know she is going to have so much to say. We ask for more words now, but we might be asking for silence in the future.

More Firsts

It was bound to happen, more firsts. Unfortunately, not all firsts are good ones. The other day while playing with her toys, Jaycee started crying. Her cry was not any old cry, it was a pain-filled cry. As her daddy picked her up, he noticed that a small bee was crawling on the floor. That's right, Jaycee tried to make friends with the honey bee that had been crawling along side her toys. She was devastated and still had the stinger stuck in her little pointer finger.

After getting the stinger out, rinsing her hand, and trying to get her to play with the baking soda paste, she had a bath to soothe her little, puffy finger. It was a little stiff at first, but she recovered quite quickly.

And yesterday, Jaycee had her first visit to her mommy's classroom since walking well. She thought the classroom was fantastic. She used the desks as a maze and weaved in and out. When she was in the center of the room, you couldn't even she her! Her head was just to the bottom of the desks. She inspected a few desks, filed many papers, and found a blow up globe to throw around. It's just a short matter of time before she will sit at her own desk with crayons and paper while her mom finishes up class work. She has to be the smallest, shortest little person walking around. It is so funny to see her walking, the whole 26ish inches that she is! (Sorry, no accurate measurements until her one year check up next month)!

Jaycee Pics

Jaycee had quite a good photo session this morning after her bath. It's so nice to have a smiling baby all the time. It's so much easier than when she was a little baby. No more making funny faces and funny noises. She smiles because she's just happy. Doesn't she look sooooo old? Less than a month til the one year mark!

The New Jaycee

Jaycee has decided that since she knows how to walk, she is going to have a go at running now (or at least walking fast). As she turns 11 months today, she has mastered the art of walking, pivoting, and even holding objects as she moves. She is incredibly good at her newest advancement and thinks that crawling is now officially just for babies (the opposite of what she is, of course).

Jaycee now spends her days playing with her toys, but now when she plays with them they all have to be making noise. She makes every music toy play every song that it has. She isn't happy when they are turned off and will even throw it around the room to make the toys sound off. When she isn't playing with her toys, she is carrying a water bottle, a juice cup, or any other heavy object across the room with her as she walks. She has found the large window in the house and enjoys looking out at the birds and squirrels.

Jaycee's new favorite thing to do when visiting stores on the weekends is scream at the top of her lungs. We ran errands this weekend and went to all our favorite spots: Target, Costco, and Trader Joe's. At each store, Jaycee found that she received smiles and smirks from passer-byers when she screamed. And we are not talking any old scream, but the loudest, highest pitch that she can make! It sounds as though she might actually break glass! And when we ask her to stop, what a surprise, she just continues. Luckily, most other shoppers find it cute, while only the old hags find it annoying while they try and shop and talk on their cell phones.

Here are a few pictures of Jaycee and what she has been doing around the house. She still enjoys her bath time and loves playing with her floaty toys. She is also determined to eat everything her Mama and Papa eat, no exceptions. She had orange juice for the first time today and thought that it was just fabulous. So far Jaycee eats and drinks everything, with the exception of eating her peas and green beans still.

Our First Family Photo Session

We were lucky to have Josh's Uncle Carlos take some family photos when he was visiting from Oregon at Christmas time. We absolutely love the way the pics turned out and cannot wait to make a cool collage out of them! Thanks again, Uncle Carlos! :)

Happy New Year

We wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year. We had a lovely night at home. . . sleeping, of course! Jaycee actually stayed up until about 10pm, so after that, we were more than ready for bed ourselves.

We had a nice first day of the year at Sea World in San Diego. It was a little chilly, but luckily Jaycee had her very cute cardigan shipped in from England (thank you Auntie Pat and Uncle Tony!). Because it was such a nice clear day, we got some wonderful pics. Enjoy.
