Our little one is attached

Jaycee has been a super big baby lately. Not in the whiney sense, but in the "I need to always be held" sense. She is now attached to both of us, no matter what. She has started reaching up for us and crying if we aren't paying total attention to her. We can't believe that her separation anxiety is already setting in. She refuses to allow anyone else to be a temporary fill-in. It's Mommy or Daddy or NOTHING. And boy, oh boy, can this kid scream! She has extremely loud vocal cords and is not afraid to use them. Luckily for us, as her parents, we can usually quickly prevent the screaming from continuing. It's a blessing and a curse at the same time. We think, how wonderful that our baby loves and needs us so much. Then we think, we can't leave her anywhere for any period of time without having a terrified, dramatic little girl on our hands. The guilt is overwhelming. Needless to say, we won't be going anywhere without Jaycee, and we mean anywhere. Our life is definitely planned out for us for the next few years. Dinner, movies, vacations? Yes, but if, and only if, Jaycee can attend as well. So much for our anniversary dinner! Alone that is. . .

Jaycee swimming and more. . .

Jaycee has been enjoying swimming at her grandparent's house the last few days. She really enjoys being in the water and doesn't mind water in her face or splashing. She even enjoys splashing herself in the face every now and then.

The picture of her pinching her booby was taken at her last doctor's visit. We have to disrobe her for her weigh-in and shots and once we did that, she magically found another piece of her anatomy. Too cute!

Other than the swimming and finding a piece to pinch, Jaycee has just been growing and eating and sleeping. Our everyday routine has changed only slightly with Mommy back at work and Daddy doing more school work. We are just trying to find our new routine for the fall semester. At the moment, we don't have any more teeth or crazy new developments, just regular old Jaycee, just the way we like it.

The six month check up

Jaycee had her six month check up today. Everything went just fine, just more shots and the typical visit stuff. She weighed in at an amazing 16.1 pounds and is now 26 inches long. Holy cow! Over two feet already! The doctor checked her out and said everything is looking good.

Jaycee has been attempting to crawl this past week. She can't get too far yet, but is definitely on her way to moving soon. She has almost mastered the skill of sitting upright on her own. All the parent websites say that once she can sit upright, crawling is inevitable soon after.

We are very happy with Jaycee's eating habits. She eats fruits, veggies, and oatmeal daily now. Fruit for the morning, oatmeal for the afternoon, and veggies at dinner time. So far she has not refused anything. She does not care for peas in the slightest, but is willing to give a few bites try now and then. Fruits are her favorite, especially bananas and apples. Peaches are a little bitter and do come along with a smushed face during the first few bites, but after that, all is good.

We bought Jaycee a sippy cup for her to practice drinking on her own. She has the handle holding down, but needs some work on tilting her head back so that she doesn't suck on air only. She is still drinking pear, apple, and white grape juice mixed with water. We were just talking today about how little she needs a bottle now. She only drinks her bottle about three times per day. So big so fast. At least she is healthy and growing well. We wouldn't trade her for anything. . .

The pics are a few weeks old, but cute non the less.

Seaworld. . . We went to Seaworld!

We finally made the trip down to Seaworld that we have been talking about doing for so long now. We decided to leave in the early afternoon and hopefully stay for the late-night fireworks show if everything went well. Everything did go very well. Jaycee managed to sleep for only two 20 minute naps from 1:30 until 8:30 at night, the time she eventually gave in and fell asleep.

Jaycee did wonderfully with all the people (and there were many), the noises, and the animals. She particularly enjoyed looking at the smelly flamingos with her daddy (see the pics). She got a Seaworld hat (see the many pics), and even got a caricature done (also the pic). The caricature is so extremely cute, we couldn't have asked for a better drawing. She did not cry, did not get fussy, and ate all her regular food (including her solids). Overall, it was a major success and we cannot wait to go again. We think most of Jaycee's enjoyment came from her being outside. She loves the outdoors and loves looking around at the birds, plants, and having the wind blow through her ever-growing hair.

It was so cute to see her little teeth in all the photos when we got home. It's so hard to see them when she smiles in person because she is usually screaming and moving her tongue around in excitement. She no longer has an inside voice, only screaming and yelling and shrieking (not in a bad way, just in a noisy way).

Anyway, we hope you enjoy her first amusement park pictures as much as we do!

Jaycee the swimmer!

Jaycee is a swimmer. It's official! Her first day in the pool was a success. She did not cry, whine, or get scared at all. She enjoyed being held and she enjoyed floating around in her floatable seahorse. She kicked her legs like crazy and even managed to move the water around a bit. She is definitely a natural swimmer. As you can see from the picture, swimming made her very tired. That day, she only slept an hour total and was up from 7am-10pm. She was tired, but refused to sleep because she didn't want to miss out on anything. That's her newest thing. . . no sleeping because her mommy and daddy might do something that she wants to be a part of.

Here are some cute pics of Jaycee playing on her very own computer. Who knew that we would have such a genius on our hands!
